ROLLING!
We curate lists of cinema - based on themes, genres and directors. We write about our favourite cinematic pieces. We obsess over cinema until that obsession becomes research. And then we obsess some more. But that’s only the formal byline. In actuality, it is way more personal for us. It’s cinema, after all. How can it not be personal?

BEYOND GOOD & BAD
Welcome to Humans of Cinema! Here, we don’t simply label films as “good” or “bad”. We don’t grade films like they are appearing for an exam. Instead, we focus on the art of watching. We don’t write to give the final verdict on films. We write to keep the cameras and conversations rolling.
THE ART OF WATCHING
The goal is to inspire and equip our readers to watch a film with passion, patience and an open mind. If you let cinema hold your hand, it will show you the world - its people, its history, its power and its folly. And at the end of that journey, it will turn your gaze inwards and show you yourself. You are a little cinematic too, you know.

MEET OUR TEAM

Harshit
Founder, Host - The Humans of Cinema Podcast
Harshit started Humans of Cinema with the aim of documenting our personal bond with cinema. His passion for it has only grown through the years - mention a KieÅ›lowski film when you are talking to him, and you’ll understand. He hosts the Humans of Cinema podcast, writes about cinema with warmth and honesty, manages an almost impossible number of tasks. And he somehow always has the patience to have another discussion on films. It’s actually a superpower.
Ahona
Head of Content
Ahona fell in love with cinema during her very first Film Studies class. It was so intense, it was practically cinematic. She writes about the way cinema captures humanity, and how f rames, songs and dialogues often say a little more than you thought they did. She composes video essays, curates recommendation lists, studies the lyrics of her favourite songs - and in her f ree time, watches a lot of murder mysteries. We do not know why. But it is terrifying.
Prince
Video Editor
Prince notices the minutest details of a film, and presents it with a rare clarity. He can make a piece of video accessible to anyone who watches it - irrespective of the viewer’s knowledge of the subject. He takes our videos and lends them their cinematic quality, while enhancing and refining the impact of the piece. And he somehow always accommodates our last minute requests. We do not know where he sources this patience f rom.
Samraj
DoP, Graphic Designer
Samraj watches an alarming number of films with (f rankly inhuman) energy. He studies the f rames, and the makers of those f rames. When he is not shooting episodes of the Humans of Cinema podcast, or designing and editing the graphics of the platform and the website, he is usually capturing the cityscape with his camera. He is also somehow present at multiple film screenings around the clock. We do not know how he does this.
OUR COLLABORATORS

Adarsh
Products and Events
Adarsh brings in the order to the spirit of this team. He manages our website, helps us structure our events and canvass the details so that we can interact with you more smoothly. He manages to handle all our creative requests, so that our vision can be actualized. He plays a pivotal role in anchoring our product team. We believe that he and Prince are sourcing this patience from the same vendor.

Anshika
Content and Videography
Anshika approaches cinema with a
refreshing perspective - no judgement, just an overwhelming love for it. She collaborates with us on the filming of our podcasts, and she reports to us
from film festivals across the country. We could describe the film discussions we have had with her at 3 in the night by the sea, but you have to be there to grasp its beauty.

Kanika
Intern
Kanika helps us collate our work into this space, so that our readers can navigate through our articles in a fuss
free manner. Also a student of French Language and Literature, Kanika takes a deep interest in Film Studies. She adds her knowledge to our pieces so that this space is even more holistic. And yes, she will hold a conversation on cinema with a heartwarming affection for it.
