WHAT IS THE WORKSHOP ABOUT?

This workshop is a deep-dive into series writing and pitching for the OTT space. Across two intensive days, participants will explore how series are written for OTT platforms, how ideas are structured and presented, and what producers actually look for. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a solid story foundation and a clearer sense of their voice as a writer.

WHAT DO YOU LEARN FROM THE COURSE?

  • Learn to develop characters based on their psychology, needs, desires, and conflicts, rather than just starting with plot. This approach ensures that your story grows organically and resonates with audiences.
  • Discover techniques to craft characters who feel real, flawed, and engaging, capable of carrying multiple episodes and seasons. You’ll also explore how secondary characters, mentors, and opposing voices add depth to your narrative.
  • Understand how to condense a broad story idea into a concise logline that clearly communicates the main character, conflict, and stakes. This skill helps you focus your story and makes it easier to pitch to producers.
  • Learn how different structural approaches like 3-act, 5-act, or sequence methods affect pacing, tension, and audience engagement. You’ll also see how dialogue and scene choices reveal character, advance plot, and layer emotion.
  • Gain practical insights into episode arcs, hooks, cliffhangers, and the binge-viewing psychology that shapes modern storytelling.
  • Learn to create one-pagers, series bibles, and episode breakdowns that clearly communicate your story, world, and characters. These tools are essential for presenting your project professionally and persuasively.
  • Explore how AI and other new technologies are shaping the writing process and storytelling landscape. You’ll understand what tasks to avoid giving AI and how to critically refine its output to maintain originality and depth.
  • Understand the dynamics of pitching like how to present your idea, incorporate feedback, and refine your project without losing your vision. You’ll get tips on navigating producer expectations and collaborative adjustments.
  • Explore how to build productive routines, collaborate in writers’ rooms, and stay resilient in a competitive industry. You’ll also learn to balance creative passion with practical considerations, including networking, multiple income streams, and long-term growth.

WHAT ELSE IS IN STORE?
