This season follows lawyer Madhav Mishra (Tripathi) as he yet again finds himself at the investigating end of a high-profile murder case in Mumbai. The prime suspect, who’s also his client, is Dr Raj, a highly-revered surgeon (Mohd Zeeshab Ayyub) who’s accused of killing Roshni Saluja (Asha Negi), a nurse whom he had an affair with. Interestingly, Madhav is hired for the case by Dr Raj’s wife Anju, who lives separately but co-parents her daughter with him - 13 year old Ira who has Asperger’s Syndrome. Roshni was Ira’s caregiver and was therefore quite close to her, making the entire dynamic even more complex than it already is.
As the court proceedings against Dr Raj begin and the investigation starts to unfold over the course of the season, some interesting revelations are made that only further add to the complexity of the case. There are certain points at which even the 13-year old girl starts to seem like a possible suspect. The show balances the pulsating thrills of a mystery with an admirable empathy for the characters & the sensitivity of the relationships between them.
I’m also always impressed by the unique mix of actors that this show manages to put together every season, and this season was no exception either. The casting of this show is top-notch, and the ensemble cast is extremely necessary to elevate the writing. Pankaj Tripathi has mastered the affable-but-astute persona of Madhav Mishra to the point where they’re inseparable, & every other cast member complements his perfectly. You can watch the show on JioHotstar.
