1. Directed by Anupam Kher, Tanvi The Great is the story of a 21-year old autistic girl Tanvi, who finds herself having to live with her embittered grandfather when her mother goes on a work trip.
2. Anupam Kher has described the film as a personal story, because the titular character is based on his maternal niece Tanvi, who is also autistic. As a result, the film has been told from a much more empathetic & senstive lens.
3. The story of the film takes an interesting turn when Tanvi develops an ambition to join the Armed Forces after learning about her martyred father Samar Pratap Raina. Helping her in this journey are Brigadier Joshi (Jackie Shroff), her music teacher Raaz Saab (Boman Irani), and Major Kailash Srinivasan (Arvind Swamy), each playing a small but pivotal role in pushing her closer to her dream.
4. The film had its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film this year. It was also screened at the New York Indian Film Festival, where Robert De Niro attended the screening of the film.
5. Tanvi The Great also stars Iain Glen, whom you might remember as Ser Jorah Mormont from Game Of Thrones. The music of the film is by Oscar-winner MM Keeravani M. M. Keeravani with lyrics by Kausar Munir, Shannon K and Dirty Grim.
